A Symbol of Me

Summary:

I got this art of my Ingenuity gijinka made into a keychain and I yap about why it's a symbol of me.

Notes:

For this assignment I think we were supposed to write a personal statement of sorts because college application season is soon. Just to get some practice y'know. I don't think I took this very seriously. I did end up mentioning spacecraft gijinka in my college apps so I guess this wasn't for nothing lol.

Heʼs devious, heʼs fast. A scout and a pioneer with rotor blades that spin in opposite directions. Oh, who is this little guy? Itʼs the one and only Mars Helicopter Ingenuity! Encased in this acrylic charm is an original character of mine, a personified version of this little adventurer. This character is the brainchild of my two biggest hyperfixations: art and space. And now, heʼs been brought to life in the form of an acrylic keychain that I can clip onto my bag and take with me everywhere.

The Mars 2020 mission, comprised of the Perseverance rover and Ingenuity, was the first mission I followed closely after becoming interested in spaceflight. It was out of this obsession that, on one fine day, some wires crossed in my head and a brilliant thought came to me: “Hey, you know these spacecraft you like? What would they be like if they were human?”. Before I knew it, I was staring at a blank canvas, ready to make magic happen with the sheer power of my imagination and the indomitable spirit of an artist haunted by an idea that just won't leave her alone. Thus, I embarked on a journey into the very niche world of spacecraft moe anthropomorphism.

This endearing character who rocks a big orange jacket, rotor blades, and mechanical legs is the epitome of my passion, creativity, and artistic ability. It is a tribute to the things I love and a representation of the wacky ideas in my head.
