* The events described in this post happened on October 4, but I'm writing about it a couple of days later.
Everyone say hi to feijoa, pronounced "fayยทowยทuh" and scientific name Feijoa sellowiana ๐ฅณ
There's a couple of feijoa trees at my college campus, decorating an area that not many people walk through. I noticed them last year and I'm pretty sure I saw the fruits too, but at the time I didn't think too much about it. Later, I learned that the fruits were edible and I tucked this knowledge to the back of my mind.
A couple of days ago I walked by the trees again and guess what? The fruits! They're fruiting! So of course I had to try them out ๐ My Nightshade toy came in the mail today so it was kind of like my way to celebrate hehe.
Its nickname is pineapple guava, and it smells and tastes exactly as the name implies. I honestly couldn't have described it any better. Whoever came up with the name is a genius it's so spot on. I feel like feijoa juice or smoothie would be amazing.
- smell: โ โ โ โ โ - absolutely amazing, 10/10
- taste: โ โ โ โฏชโ - not the biggest fan of pineapples, otherwise would've rated it higher :P
- texture: โ โ โ โโ - it's a little coarse for my likings
Final verdict? Highly recommend, especially for the unique taste. Yay for free fruits! And check out Falling Fruit for free fruits on public properties near you :3

My Nightshade figure arrived today after much anticipation!! :D I can now say I own all of Nightshade's official merch because AFAIK this toy is their only official merch.

// The Backstory
I've seen the toy out in the wild a couple of times (at Target and a toy store in San Diego). What stopped me from purchasing was the fact that the face sculpt is kind of atrocious ๐ญ Why are they so :| instead of :3
I almost, almost bit the bullet and purchased the toy when I came across it in SD, but because I've already spend a lot of money on traveling there I couldn't justify an impulsive purchase.
However...! Earlier in the year, I completed a research paper on EarthSpark & Nightshade. I told myself that if my paper or website—not this site, FYI—end up being chosen as one of the best student works, I'll buy the toy.
AND GUESS WHAT!??!?
MY PAPER WON!!! IT MADE IT TO THE TOP 10!!!!
So of course I bought the toy to celebrate! I ended up buying it from eBay, as it turns out that buying second-hand, out-of-box toys can be cheaper than buying a new one off the shelves of Walmart.

Things I Like:
- The owl head!! It's so cute and accurate to the show! I prefer keeping them in owl mode.
- BIG wings <333 It's not accurate to the show but I love it anyway! Very fun to pose.
- The head and torso sculpt is pretty good.
- They can sit down :D Very posable, good leg rotation.
Things I Don't Like:
- The face sculpt looks much better in person than in photos. Still, it's alright at best.
- Hollow legs, but that's what the entire EarthSpark toyline is like.
- I generally don't mind kibbles, but the claws underneath arms are really intrusive.
- No waist/hip rotation :(
Overall thoughts: If you're a fan of Nightshade, then this toy is worth it! Otherwise, ehh not really.
