Today I took my university's bus system for the first time. There was a lot of people on the bus, so unfortunately I didn't get a window seat. First impression: it's really slow for some reason. I think it's because there were a lot of stop signs. The bus itself is not very loud and it makes a cute humming/chirping noise when it comes to a halt. I'm tempted to try to ride all of the lines just for the fun of it & familiarize myself with the system. Planning on taking a different line tomorrow—for practical purposes, actually needed to go to somewhere lol—so we'll see how that goes.
I love public transit, but I wouldn't quite call myself an enthusiast yet, since I haven't done any research into them. I'd like to, though :) Perhaps I should start with my local bus systems. All the different types of buses, their identification system, the agencies that operate them... there's so much to learn! Feels like a fun hobby to get into.
Update (9/23/2025): I took the bus again today and it went well. Two things: 1) there were less people on the bus this time so it was a lot more pleasant and 2) the humming noise is actually constant, but that's just how buses are.
