This page is a showcase of how my art has progressed over the years :] Here you'll find a collection of my favorite pieces, the artworks I once considered to be my best work, and art that hold special meaning to me in some way.
I've divided my art into "eras" rather than years, accompanied by some thrilling(?) commentary.
The layout is inspired by hill house!
Maybe some day I'll make another page logging all of my art by year.
I don't have a specific theme figured out for this page yet, so it might get a makeover some time in the future.
Art has always been a hobby of mine as far back as I can remember.
The oldest drawing I have is from 2014, but I'm pretty sure I've been drawing for longer than that :D
When I first started doing art, I spent most of my time imitating (copying) other art I like! Including coloring books and a specific How to Draw Anime book (which I unfortunately forgot the title of).
This is technically my first ever digital art, but I don't really consider it to be, since I was just a kid messing around in MS Paint :P It probably took me an entire afternoon to draw this.
This is one of the first original characters I ever drew! They don't have any lore though, just a random one-off character.
Around 2017, I shifted to drawing primarily original stuff.
During this era, I was drawing purely "just for fun of it", as I didn't really have the desire to improve my art skills per say :P
Another random OC! For a while I was obsessed with drawing this specific outfit, inspired by IA's V3 outfit. Around this time is when I figured out how to draw skirt ruffles.
I wish have the exact date I drew this, but the original file is long gone. My sister
gifted me her drawing tablet since she doesn't draw that much anymore, and this was the first thing
I drew after she helped me pirate download the program!
I drew this probably within the same week as the previous one, so there's not really any difference in skill level. Why is it significant, then? It was my first time drawing Miku digitally!!
I'd say 2018 to 2019 is the period where I saw the biggest improvement in my art.
This is when I really began label myself as an artist, and started to consciously trying to improve my art! Just drawing isn't enough now, I wanna get better >:)
I DON'T PLAY AROUND WHEN I SAY I'M A GIJINKA ENTHUSIAST I'VE BEEN ON THAT SHIT SINCE I WAS IN ElEMENTARY SCHOOL🔥🔥Shout out to mobtalker creator aptx9522🙏their minecraft gijinka changed my brain chemistry as a child.
This drawing screams "I'm a beginner artist" in the best way possible. I loveeeeeee drawing floating heads.
I got better at drawing hair :3 The wonky proportions—arms and legs that are way too long—is pretty typical for the time. I only knew how to draw front-facing view lol.
I tried to do a super thin line art because that seemed to be pretty popular among artists I follow. I gave up on rendering and background because I knew there was something off about the drawing, but I don't know what it is and didn't have the skills to fix it.
Occasionally I'll draw something that's way above my typical skill level. This was one of those times. In 2019 I drew a lot of fullbodies and got better at anatomy!
From around late 2019 to most of 2020, it was even more sketches practicing anatomy and dynamic posing. Not a lot of fully-rendered pieces to show.
I would draw poses from Line of Action and Quickposes, and pretty outfits I saw on Pinterest :3
An anatomy practice that I decided to turn into Miku :3 I like how I draw her hair.
This was my first and only time trying washi tape art; it was pretty fun! As you can see from the noodle fingers, hands are my worst enemy lol.
2020 is the year I started to take drawing more seriously. By the time 2021 rolled around, I was drawing more digital art than traditional. (Though I did prefer to sketch on paper & finish the rest digitally). I also switched to using MediBang Paint, which is the program I've been using to this day (as of 2025).
This is like the 3rd or 4th fully rendered drawing I made in MediBang Paint. I was super proud of how it turned out and it was the push I needed to commit to continue doing digital art.
MY FIRST SPACECRAFT GIJINKA DESIGN!!! Mars 2020 is the first mission I followed closely after getting into spaceflight so this one's extra special to me :3 At the time I wanted to make all of my spacejinkas objectheads because I wanted to be Unique^TM but obviously I folded.
Of course I had to include my first JWST design here. Such an iconic spacecraft & the cornerstone of spacecraft gijinka community frfr. For better or for worse this drawing's memorialized on the #JWSTArt public art submission gallery.
This drawing's the beginning of me on the verge of figuring out a new art style. I decided to paint over the line art and that unlocked something in my brain. Also, I really like how I shaded her eyes <3
This era's a relatively long one, spanning 2022 to 2024. It's marked by a distinct art style with line art sketched with 60% opacity marker and rendered with the watercolor brush in MediBang.
I made the shift from drawing on my phone with my finger to drawing on computer with a tablet, and pretty much ever since I've been doing mostly digital art.
2022 was the year of learning how to do lighting. I really outdid myself with this one. I think even today it still holds up pretty well, it's one my favorite pieces I've done <3 I think I nailed her design on my first try! Around this time, I started to actually interact with people on Twitter, and this was my first artwork to really gain any traction.
I feel like this one's pretty representative of what I can do well during this era: design a character and draw a full-body picture of them. I love how I rendered her hair it's so juicy.
A piece commemorating Ariane 5's last flight! This one took so long to draw but I really wanted to practice drawing a full scene! I'm not 100% satisfied with how it came out, but it's good enough :]
Part 2 of me trying to get over my fear of drawing backgrounds. Another drawing that took me SO LONG to draw but I'm happy with how it turned out <3 This would make a nice print.
YURI!!!!!!!!! This was one of my favorites <3333 A "happy new year" drawing I did. Looking back there's a lot of room for improvement, but it's still cute!!
This was my magnum opus🔥 It was a farewell gift for my high school math teacher who was also a fan of Miku (I got it printed as a poster at Staples). It is by far the biggest drawing I've made (5400 x 7200 pixels).
I've always wanted to draw this kind of mixed media art, where the character is placed into a photo and painted as if part of the environment. The background is a photo I took back in Christmas of 2018 :} I really like how this one turned out... the atmosphere is so warm and fuzzy <3
Ever since I switched to using a new set of brushes—20% opacity pencil and chalk—my art style has been ever so slightly different. I also like to think I got better at coloring.
It's still 2025, so a little too earlier to tell if this is truly a new era. For now I'd say it's marked by shading with funky colors and doing post-processing.
Experimented with colors + painted in a way that I usually don't + used new brushes. I really like how the chibi turned out :3 My art style started to shift ever since this specific drawing.
Drew this for an art collab! I've unlocked the power of rake brushes🔥🔥 I started with base colors that were tinted in such a way that I never would've dared to a year ago LOL.
Zemu drawing mech?? No way... Getting into Transformers was not on my 2024 bingo card but it happened :P This one's drawn in my newly developed chibi style. I got it made into a acrylic keychain and it's super gorgeous!!
I felt compelled to include Rexy here because I sketched my first design of him back in April of 2023(!!). I struggled with his design a lot, but I'm happy with what I ended up with <3
